A-type standards: these specify basic concepts, terminology and design principles applicable to all categories of machinery.

Similarly, EN 953:1997+A1:2009 is still harmonised, but it is being superseded and replaced by BS EN ISO 14120:2015 (Safety of machinery. Guards. General requirements for the design and construction of fixed and movable guards).

New editions of BS EN ISO 14122 parts 1,2 and 3 are expected to be published in 2015.
