The first type of lock features a knob on the outside and a lever on the inside for use in the event of a worker being trapped inside the guarding. Customers can specify either Euchner or Schmersal guard switches for mounting within the lock so that opening the guard causes the safety-related control system to stop the machinery being safeguarded.
For machinery with a run-down time or other hazards to which access must be similarly controlled, the second type of lock can be fitted with either Euchner or Pizzato interlocked switches. These will prevent the guard from being opened from the outside until the safety-related control system releases the lock. However, this type of lock is also equipped on the inside with a lever for use by a trapped worker; this lever can be operated without having to wait for the safety-related control system to release the lock.
Both types of locks can be padlocked in the open position to prevent the guard being locked closed during commissioning or maintenance.
These new products provide a simple and cost-effective way of locking or interlocking access points on Satech guards. Compared with competitive systems, Satech modular perimeter guards are very simple to install by end users, system integrators or contractors. Procter Machine Guarding also offers a comprehensive survey, design and installation service if customers do not have the resources available in-house.
The Satech guarding system comprises a comprehensive range of panels, posts, doors, bracketry and accessories. Moreover, there is a choice of specifications to suit different applications and budgets, so customers only have to pay for what they need. And to match each post and panel specification there is a range of hinged, sliding, and rise-and-fall access gates. All of the Satech components are fully compliant with the latest standards, and they are manufactured to a consistently high quality.
Alongside the Satech standard guarding components, Procter Machine Guarding designs, manufactures and installs bespoke guards. If need be, the company can therefore supply Satech guards for the majority of an application and bespoke guarding for any areas that are unusually awkward, as well as light curtains, interlock switches, safety mats and other associated equipment.
